Conferences & Lectures

Our biennial graduate student conference and Rolando Hinojosa-Smith Lecture Series are just two of the many ways that the Latina/Latino Studies Program engages the community with contemporary Latina/o Studies scholarship. Inaugurated in March 2006 during the Program's Tenth Anniversary Celebration, the Rolando Hinojosa-Smith Lecture Series brings prominent Latina/Latino Studies scholars to campus each year to present on their current projects. Thus far, the lectures have focused on the areas of literature, film, social activism, and history. The biennial graduate student conference is a dynamic opportunity for young Latina/o Studies scholars across the United States to share their scholarly work with their peers and larger communty. There have been three conferences so far since spring of 2003 and we anticipate more in the future.
